The new ‘MACE’ card from Vision Dynamics represents a new force in the field
of motion control. 5 Axes of closed-loop motor control are combined with PWM
drive stages on a single PCI card. Couple this with the comprehensive, intuitive
software development kit, and you have the most compact PC-based motion control
solution on the market.
Most PC-based motion control solutions feature an intelligent control card.
This card is connected to external motor drive stages, and then to the motors themselves.
The MACE card is different, incorporating the motor drives on-board, saving you the
complexity and cost involved in sourcing, purchasing and implementing external motor
drives.
For smaller motors, drive power can be derived directly from the PC power
supply - or to make the most of all 5 of the MACE card’s PWM drive stages an external
power source can be used via a back-plane connector . Additionally, dc-dc converters
are available, allowing you to power 24v, 36v or 48v motors directly from the PC power
supply.
To complete the solution, the MACE card also sports built-in support for
interlocks and limit switches, analogue joystick inputs and some additional digital
i/o.
